After helping to name and brand this unique 'Historical Experience' in the heart of Vancouver's Gastown, I was asked to shift my attention to the branding and design of the merchandising.
We decided Storyeum needed a gift shop reminiscent of a turn-of-the century General Store and with that in mind, I designed all of the custom merchandise, including food and other souvenir items.
As souvenir merchandise, the solution needed to not just act as food packaging and follow all necessary regulations, but just as importantly - arguably more so - it needed to capture the experience of the destination it is representing.
We created a mythical brother to 'Gassy' Jack Deighton (Gastown's founder and namesake) named Alistair, who would be the proprietor of the store. When I was lucky enough to be awarded a Lotus 'Award of Merit' for the package design, Alastair got a credit on the award - thanks, buddy.
