Early on at EKISTICS, I felt we needed a more deliberate, considered approach to how and when we posted; so I created a Social Media Strategy, working to define who our audience was, what they were looking for and what we could uniquely offer them.
As part of this, I reviewed things like our Mission, Vision, and Values and then summed them up in a few key messages that I felt our audience would care about. These would then be communicated (in whole or in part) in every post:
We are Trusted Experts.
We are Holistic Thinkers.
We are Community Builders.
We are a Cool Place to Work.

We are Trusted Experts
•  We’ve been doing this for over 28 years.
•  We’ve worked on hundreds projects of different sizes, budgets, scopes, purposes and timelines, locally + around the world.
•  We’ve been awarded, published, lauded, quoted, asked to speak and consulted.
•  We know the ins and outs of the industry, the rules and the trends.
•  We know our shit and you can trust us with your money.
Posts might include:
Team quotes: showing our knowledge and expertise, as well as our passion, for what we do in a shareable, easy to scan format.
Current projects: showing what we’ve been entrusted to manage and create (without bragging).
Past projects: showing we’ve always thought this way, or we’ve been about, say, ‘livable cities’ since forever.
Lauds: awards we’ve won, any accolades, publications, testimonials (but said humbly).
Helpful hacks: for architects, planners, city workers, developers.
Cheat sheets: share checklists, templates, top 10’s, do’s + don’ts.
Ever wonder why: i.e., doors open to left, sidewalk widths; scannable tidbits.
News + Trends: what’s happening in the industry, and where things are going.

We are HOLISTIC THINKERS:
• We are multi-disciplinary; good at, and knowledgeable about, more than one thing.
• We see things from multiple perspectives, at the same time.
• We consider each project, and each client, uniquely.
• We think about the before + the after, the big + small, the near + far, and the old + the new.
• Look to us if you want someone who sees the big picture.
Posts might include:
Same project, different eyes: this could be literally seeing a project from unique angles (below, close-up, above, eye-level, time-lapse), or different people (planner, architect, landscaper, designer), or different historical/cultural/future perspectives.
Always thinking: we can’t help but see things from so many angles, it’s how we’re wired, we’re always ‘on’.
Work in progress: behind the scenes, showing stages, but with a unique spin that highlights aspects not usually thought of.
Hear the land: highlight projects where we let the site’s unique character, history and future tell us what to do.
We are Community Builders.
• We have a heart, a vision, a purpose, values.
• We’re not just in this for the money, we want a better society.
• We believe architecture and planning, done right, can help create this.
• We’ve always tried to work WITH our clients, not just FOR them.
• We’ve always been about collaboration, teamwork and working together.
• We believe a ‘Great Space’ is great for ALL.
• We are real people designing for real people.
Posts might include:
Our causes: highlight our givebacks and ways we support creating better communities.
Workshops: showing how we work with our clients, and how the solution is better by both contributing.
Think green: we care about sustainability + the environment, so show how we bike/transit to work, recycle, conserve energy.
Design green: highlight projects that are sustainable and environmentally sensitive.
Design local: highlight projects where we considered unique needs of the people in a
specific community.
We’re all in this: highlight times when not just principals, but whole team, came up with solution.
People first: highlight times we put people ahead of profits, did the right thing, even if not popular.
We listen: show how we hear (and respond to) our clients, team members, and the world around us; this is a two-way conversation.
We are a Cool Place to Work.
• We realize the importance of an active, positive company culture.
• We are authentic, real people.
• We are fun, playful, and creative.
• We like working together and enjoy our jobs.
